Top Brazil Destinations For Nature Lovers

When people think about Brazil, most people automatically think about Brazil’s beautiful beaches. While it is without a doubt that Brazil indeed is the home to some of the finest beaches in the world, there are also other natural wonders you can explore in Brazil. Here are five amazing choices to visit in Brazil for those that are nature lovers.

1. The Amazon Rainforest: The Amazon Jungle in Northern Brazil covers most of the Amazon Basin and Brazil proudly boosts 60% of the vast area of the rainforest. The Rainforest is the largest on earth and measures 5,500.000 in square kilometers or 2,100.000 square miles.

You might wonder what there is to do in this massive Rainforest. There are innumerable possibilities of things to do! Some options include trekking in the jungle, guided safari tours, boat rides in the Amazon River, alligator spotting, sports fishing, bird watching, canoeing, sunset tours and many more. You can also enjoy seeing some of the exotic species of flora and fauna. 2. Iguaçu Falls: Iguaçu Falls is located in the Southern part of Brazil. These majestic waterfalls measure about 1.67 miles with 275 falls making up the entire system. A very popular attraction at the famous Iguaçu Falls is the Devil’s Throat which resembles a letter U and measures about 270 feet tall and 500 feet wide. What’s even better is that you can walk your way through the waterfalls to the Devil’s Throat’s base so you can clearly see the wonder of this phenomenon.

3. Fernando de Noronha: If you want to visit one of the finest natural beaches in Brazil Fernando de Noronha is the place to go. This archipelago is situated in Northeastern Brazil and consists of 21 islands and islets. The archipelago is located off the Brazilian coast for about 220 miles.

4. Serra da Bocaina: Composing of 104,000 acres of land, Serra da Bocaina is located between the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The Serra da Bocaina National Park is the largest area of preserved Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. This national park offers visitors the opportunity to experience a lush mountainous rainforest, see wildlife, rich vegetation, waterfalls and breathtaking views. There are many possibilities for the adventurous including horseback riding, trekking, repelling and hang gliding. 5. The Pantanal: For those that have the passion in seeking out adventure, the Pantanal, a tropical wetland is a great choice. The Pantanal wetland covers a total of 195,000 square kilometers. During the wet season November through March the average rainfall is between 39 – 59 inches and 80% of the Pantanal is normally covered with water.

If you think the Pantanal is only about water, you’re wrong. Within its ecosystem is a diverse species of flora and fauna. To date, there are about 3500 plant species found in the area, 1000 bird species, 400 species of fish as well as alligators and jaguars.
